Baby Boomers VS Millennials

A meme on Facebook and the associated comments by a bunch of Baby Boomers made me want to write this.  The meme was a "joke" about how stupid Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is.  The people commenting on "how she could be so stupid" and how stupid, entitled and lazy her entire generation is were primarily white, Baby Boomer women.

Here are some of my thoughts on the topic:

• I don't think it's smart to make fun of Millennials.  I'm probably going to need one of them to wipe my butt some day.
• We gave them Trump and a whole bunch of old white guys in government.  We need Millennials to clean up this mess.
• When I was coming up there weren't a lot of women in positions of power to mentor/help me.  Now, we have an opportunity. Instead of making fun of Ocasio-Cortez, how about cheering her on and supporting her?  She's not just bitching on Facebook, she's acting.  Even though I disagree with her Progressive beliefs, I support her efforts.
• Back in the day when I was protesting Vietnam and abortion, my parents' generation thought my friends and I were nuts and just needed to get a job and get into the "real world".
• But seriously, Millennials.  You can be a bit annoying (so can we with our black socks and sandals).  Quit whining about your student loans while paying a fortune to Starbucks.  And if you want some avocado toast, give me a call.  It won't cost you $15.
