January 11, 2025 - Another Sea Day

 Time seems to be flying by.  I'm back to just living here rather than "touristing".  It's interesting to live in  a high-rise, without a car.  Yesterday instead of walking on the beach, my morning walk was to Olimpica, a Super Tienda.  For those in the know on Latin America, what's the difference between a Super Mercado and a Super Tienda?  Would a Walmart be a Super Mercado because it sells way more than groceries?

Anyway, Olimpica is my current favorite grocery store and only a 15 minute walk.  I just have to be conscious of what I buy, since it's a 15 minute walk and cases of water are heavy.  Luckily for me, my favorite new snack is very light.

It was good to get back to my regular video calls.  Plus just reading, chilling and enjoying the view.

I got up about 5:30 and the moon was just above the horizon.  I love it here and the view is the best thing.

Olimpica has a large variety of veggies, including spinach. I'm used to just the leaves.

They don't have grape leaves at Publix.  Stuffed grape leaves seem to be very popular here.

Beets are one of my favorite vegetables.  I'll be roasting some of these this weekend.

I tried to explain how to eat an artichoke to JC the other day when we saw them in Megatienda.

I stopped to smell the flowers on the way home.

The hotel is called Arabe and has a camel.

I try to buy something new to try every time I go to the store.  This is my new favorite, so far, by a mile.  Palomitas is popcorn, in Spanish.  But these aren't popcorn.  Made from corn, baked with a texture like a cheeto but in smaller pieces (popcorn sized).  Some flavored caramel and some cheddar.

Another spectacular day.  Temps are about 89/74 and sunny, every day.

We've been getting more clouds in the afternoon.  They help make the sunset spectacular.
