I just got my invitation and am very excited to report that I'm going to Samoa, leaving October 5. I'll be there until Dec. 9, 2012.
Too many emotions to write about. This is a dream come true. Huge thanks to Matt for his daily reports on being a PCV in Samoa. Between his blog and my time in the Cook Islands, I feel like I have a small sense of what I'm in for.
Now, I'll start reading the 5 lb invitation package.

ReplyDeleteNow I have no idea which location I was nominated for since I didn't know Samoa was on the list! I guess my wait continues and now has a big of surprised involved.
Anyway, congrats again. I am so happy you got the country you were hoping for!
Thanks! I'm very excited and need to update the Wiki, since it looks like Tonga is the only option for October. I can't wait to hear when you'll get your invitation!
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to update you when/if I get an invitation. I received an email yesterday that informed me my placement officer is out of the office returning on Tuesday, but that they would be in contact with me ASAP upon her return. If I don't hear from them by later next week, I have been informed to call ... so, hopefully I'll be hearing on Tuesday since that's the 6-week deadline for both programs. I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure it'll all work out the way it's supposed to!
ReplyDeleteAh, man, that's rough. You're right, though, it will all turn out for the best. Plus, I've heard of others where they didn't stick to precisely six weeks. We could still end up on a plane together headed to the S. Pacific!
