Saturday, February 3 - At Sea

Day 4 of six days at sea.  I'd be perfectly happy to just keep floating.  I slept great last night.  We're still having calm seas with large swells so it is like having someone gently and slowly rock my bed.  Showering is a bit more of a challenge but I'm pretty good at bathing/shampooing with one hand while hanging onto the the grab bar with the other.

There are a lot of activities on board during sea days.  I don't do them.  I read, play cards, post on this blog, watch a movie or two and spend a lot of time watching the ocean and sky.  And, eating, of course!  And walking.  My fitbit was shocked today when I exceeded my exercise goal for the week.

Tonight is formal night with a Roaring 20's theme.  We've been encouraged to wear our formal flapper finest.  I'll be wearing something sparkly to dinner in the MDR but will pass on the Charleston contest and "speakeasys" that they're setting up in the Crow's Nest and by the Lido Pool.

In other news, I stopped by the Casino on my walk this morning.  I'm happy to report that of the initial $20 I put on my card to gamble with, I still have about $11.  It helps that I only bet $.08 at a time.

The other big news is that I booked a helicopter tour in Kona.  In a small helicopter for only four people (including the captain).  And no doors.  Should be very scary and fun.

Meanwhile, photos!

This was taken at about 7:15 a.m.

The sunrise was probably beautiful but since we're traveling almost due west, it would require me to go up to the Sea View pool at the back of the ship to see it before breakfast.

Once again I forgot to take a photo of my breakfast.  But it was the same as yesterday.  Yogurt.  Tomorrow is a special brunch so I'll have more exciting food photos to share

Since they're doing very loud hula lessons every morning by the Lido pool, I was checking other options for cards.  This spot on deck two has a lovely view

Tonight at the formal dinner I started with the duck pate on a toasted brioche with carmelized onions.  Very tasty but I preferred the sweeter rhubarb last night.  Not complaining!

For the main I had a 1/2 portion of the lemon garlic shrimp with roasted potatoes

A new dessert - a lemon mousse in a phyllo cup with fresh fruit.  Very tasty

This guy greeted me when I got back to my cabin

I've got a rose from Jodi and an elephant from Rony and Mario.  After dinner I hit the casino to lose $5.  Then checked out the action in the Crow's Nest and Lido Poolside.  Too much noise and too many people for me so went back and enjoyed some star watching on the balcony before finishing the movie Saving Mr. Banks, then reading.  We gained another hour tonight
