This post has nothing to do with Samoa. It’s about a tree. Near my home in Florida is a small park. It has a boardwalk that leads to a tree named The Senator. The Senator is impressive. Even more impressive is that it is 3,500 years old.
At least it was. In January, it burned down. At first people thought it was lightening that caused the fire. But the police determined it was arson. Who would torch a 3,500 year old tree? And why?
It was a 22 year old woman who was there doing “illegal drugs.” I don’t know what kind. She said she set the tree on fire because she needed some light to see what she was doing with the drugs.
Thanks to you, I visited the tree a few years ago. And the I took Rex over there. So bizarre that some kid burned it down. Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction!
