This was impressive enough that I figured it deserved a dedicated post. HAL has opted, on Grand Voyages, to bring back a taste of the olden days. On the 2001 World Cruise they had a dessert extravaganza in the Main Dining Room. On this cruise, it is cakes and desserts in the Lido. This wasn't quite as spectacular, but close. Considering the amount and quality of food that the crew delivers on a regular basis, this is really impressive. The photos don't do it justice. EDIT: Having some technical issues so some photos may be duplicates. Better too much cake than not enough.
