Monday January 22 - Willamstad Curacao

Most days, I feel like I'm 25.  Today, my joints (and the mirror) are reminding me I'm not.  But thanks to some excellent steroids, I'll be back to more walking tomorrow.  I did get off the ship today but didn't walk far.  Luckily, I've been here a few times before, including last year on a Celebrity cruise.

Photos!

There was rain in the distance when I woke up

The rain didn't last.  This is the view from my balcony when we docked in Willemstad

There were a few booths of stuff for sale

This guy used natural debris to make some cool artwork

I found a turtle.  Ok, not a real turtle.  A stain of a turtle

I took this to remind me I want to get some big pottery pots this color for the front porch and pool

Curacao has done a great job with the port area.  It is clean, has plenty of amenities for visitors and is convenient to the ships/town

9:30 a.m., 85 degrees and I was already sweaty.

There's a nice beach very close to the dock

This tuktuk was for rent.  A driver was extra

I love the "Welcome Home" sign they put out when we're in port.  Those are the mid-ship glass elevators above the sign

My lunch beverage was club soda with a few dashes of bitters

Sorry, I'm sure you're devastated that I didn't take a photo of my plain yogurt/granola at breakfast.  But here's lunch.  A tossed salad and a wonderful beet and orange salad with goat cheese and pistachios.  Gotta make that at home

This beach is very close to the port and protected from the wind and waves

It was windy and there were some excellent waves

Part of the fun of a world cruise is the people.  This is Eleanor.  She's Dutch, 91, lived in a variety of countries (including Burma in the 1950's) and has lived in the DC area for a long time.  Her cabin is similar to mine but on deck 10.  Very good cabin/location, especially if you enjoy sea motion

I did a back-to-back trip on this ship last year.  The Equinox was great and does 9 day trips from Ft. Lauderdale to the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, in the southern Caribbean)

The weather started to change as we sailed away from Curacao

Dinner in the MDR started with Baba Ganoush with pita points

My apologies to the chef.  I got the jerk seasoned seabass (delicious) with the sides from the steak option.  Hey, I was in the mood for mashed potatoes (under the fish)

This wasn't what I expected but was tasty.  I assume more of a Pavlova when they say a meringue dessert.  This was a soft meringue with a creamy vanilla filling

The moon and lights of Curacao in the distance as I chilled on the balcony last night after dinner

While most are in the bars/casino/shows, I like to spend my nights on the balcony or in my cabin.  Last night involved a beauty treatment.  I finally found a deep moisturizing mask that works for my skin.  And looks so attractive
